iPhone Developer Program Enrollment Process

April 30th, 2009 by will Leave a reply »

So I recently enrolled for the iPhone Developer Program – Standard Company and I saw this blog (http://iphonedevex.blogspot.com/2009/04/enrolling-my-company.html) regarding someone’s enrollment process for the iPhone Developer Program and decided to write my own.

MARCH 28 (Day 0)
Enrolled for the iPhone Developer Program for my LLC. Received a confirmation that the application was recieved.

APRIL 14 (Day 17)
Finally Recieved Email from Apple, requesting company documents to be faxed for identity verification.
I faxed the company documents and sent an email asking for verification that it was recieved.

APRIL 15 (Day 18)
Apple replied to my email and wrote back :

Dear Mr Fong,
Thank you for your email.
We are still reviewing your application and will contact you with further information regarding your application status as soon as it becomes available.
Please allow several working days for your fax to be processed. We hope this information was helpful

APRIL 16 (Day 19)
Recieved an email saying I needed to refax.

We are following up on our recent email regarding the process of reviewing your iPhone Developer Program enrollment information.
The fax you sent us has not successfully transmitted to us. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.
We would really appreciate if you could send it again. The fax number for submission of this information is +1-408-974-1053. When faxing this information to Apple, please add your Enrollment ID number XXXXXXXX and your main company corporate telephone number.
One you have faxed the requested documentation, we ask that you please allow several working days for your fax to be processed.

Refaxed and Emailed for confirmation.

APRIL 17 (Day 20)
Status Changed and recieved an email stating our documents were approved and to await further instructions:

We can confirm that your documentation was received and recorded correctly. We are still reviewing your application and will contact you with further information regarding your application status as soon as it becomes available.

APRIL 24 (Day 27)
Apple contacted my partner whom I submitted as our company’s legal contact, but he was unable to answer, so they left a message.

APRIL 27 (Day 30)
We called back and confirmed with them our enrollment ID. They said they would email us within 24 hours with an activation code and payment would finalize our enrollment. We are getting close!

APRIL 29 (Day 32)
Received an email from Apple:

We have reviewed the information you submitted when you initiated your enrollment request and are now ready to instruct you on the steps required to continue with the enrollment process.
Please review and agree to the iPhone Developer Program License Agreement. You must click-through this agreement prior to completing the purchase and activation process for your iPhone Developer Program.
Once you have completed the activation of your purchase, your enrollment will be complete and you can access the iPhone Developer Program Portal by logging in to the iPhone Dev Center.

Logged in and paid the 99$.
Few hours later received this email:

Thank you for applying to the iPhone Developer Program. To activate, simply click on the Activation code link below

Clicked the activation link and now we are completely enrolled!

Thank you for joining the iPhone Developer Program. You now have access to a comprehensive set of development tools and resources to assist you in developing and distributing new and innovative applications for iPhone and iPod touch.

Total Time From Application to Enrollment: 32 DAYS

UPDATE: For those who are looking for their enrollment ID:

You have to click on your activation code and it will send you to an “error page” and tell you “Sorry etc… and the enrollment ID is in that paragraph.

Thank you, common, for the useful info.

  1. William, where do you get your Enrollment ID? Is it your Apple ID, Team ID or something else?

I’m trying to renew my iDP membership and the form they provide contains this field. I don’t see the Enrollment ID anywhere in the portal. Weird.

  2. will says:

Enrollment ID is not your apple ID or team ID its a specific ID to track your enrollment (application) to iDP.

It is provided to you when you first apply to the iDP. It may be in your email somewhere, Apple referenced my enrollment ID in one of their emails.

I would suggest contacting them directly if you are still unable to find it.

  3. Thanks a lot. I thought I never delete email :) Now I guess I have to pester Apple.

I know it’s an old post but I wanted to follow up for someone else looking for the enrollment ID. You have to click on your activation code and it will send you to an “error page” and tell you “Sorry etc… and the enrollment ID is in that paragraph.

Without a doubt one of the most rediculous processes out there.

Here is my question… if you can’t veryify my Identity to activate my account (which was my problem) why did you charge my credit card? ;)
